Two decades after the 1985 Chicago Bears captured national attention with their Super Bowl XX victory, the impact of the team and its historic season has not been forgotten. The legacy of the '85 Bears will continue throughout Chicago's history as the City of Chicago has recognized the team with its highest honor.
Mayor Richard M. Daley and the City of Chicago presented the '85 Chicago Bears with a resolution that recognizes the team and commemorates their 20th Anniversary. The resolution was presented to members of the team on Wednesday, December 14 during the city council meeting. The resolution pays tribute to the 20th Anniversary of the team and its unprecedented accomplishments and will be part of Chicago's history forever. The team also presented Mayor Daley and the City of Chicago with a replica Super Bowl XX trophy for their continued support.
Members of the 1985 World Championship team present to receive the official resolution include Kurt Becker, Otis Wilson, Brian Baschnagel, Emery Moorehead, Calvin Thomas, Richard Dent, Mike Hartenstine, Steve Kazor, Matt Suhey, Shaun Gayle and Gary Fencik as well as 1985 VP/GM Jerry Vainisi.
